Among the various stages of product development, prototyping plays the key role that helps the designer during the styling and the engineering of the project. At first through the realization of a mockup (also obtained from full) are made assessments and aesthetic-dimensional verification ; then, after the engineering phase, there is provided a working prototype 1:1, with a yield material also very close to the final product, always in relation to the prototyping technology used.

What is Nylon Sintering (SLS)

The laser sintering of nylon allows, starting from a 3D file, to produce economically and in a few hours a Nylon model of shape, even complex, difficult or even impossible obtainable by other means. In this case, unlike the stereolithography, the nylon powder is aggregated for adduction of heat that melts the stable particles of the same.

In fact, the sintering is a thermal treatment of a compact dust below the melting point of the main component. This technology does not provide for the use of rests to be removed after construction and therefore allows to build even parts with complex geometries and with small details. The material is very resistant to mechanical stress and heat , it can be also subject to further machining tooling. The models obtained are usually used for verification of style, testing assembly, functional tests such as mechanical and thermal stresses.

Stereolithography (SLA) or Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)

Il processo stereolitografico (SLA è l’abbreviazione di StereoLitographic Apparatus) coinvolge quattro differenti tecnologie: laser, ottica, chimica dei fotopolimeri e software, ed è il primo e più importante sistema di RP commercialmente diffuso. Il processo è suddiviso in quattro fasi principali: preparazione, costruzione, pulizia e post-trattamento.
